1. Website analytics
These pages do not include accounts or forms. Analytics is optional. Until you choose “Allow analytics,” this website does not load Google Tag Manager or Google Analytics. If you allow it, Google Analytics uses cookies to measure page visits, download link clicks, iOS beta link clicks, and successful copies of setup commands. We send event names for those interactions, never command text or download URLs. Page addresses exclude query strings, and referrers are reduced to their site origin. Google may receive browser and device details and cookie identifiers; it uses IP addresses to derive approximate location and then discards them before logging. We do not send inventory records, account data, names, or email addresses. Choose “Analytics choices” in the footer to change your decision. Declining after accepting stops future measurement after the page reloads and removes this site’s Google Analytics cookies. Hosting providers still process ordinary requests to deliver the website and prevent abuse. See how Google uses information from sites that use its services.
2. Downloads
Downloads are served from this website. Hosting providers may record ordinary request information when you download a file.
3. Self-hosted server data
Your server stores accounts, sessions, parts, stock history, storage locations, uploaded images, filament records, printer settings, printer history, notes, and maintenance records. This information stays in the database and file storage controlled by the server operator unless they export it, back it up, share it, or make the server accessible to others.
Passwords are stored as one-way hashes. Saved printer access codes are encrypted using the key configured by the server operator.
4. iOS app and TestFlight
Your workshop data
The iOS app connects to the VoltVault server and supported local printers you choose. Inventory records remain on your server. The app stores saved printer details and preferences on your device, and uses the device-only iOS Keychain for printer access codes and optional remembered server passwords. Local network permission lets it discover and connect to devices on your network; you can change this permission in iOS Settings. The website analytics described above are not embedded in the iOS app.
Beta diagnostics and feedback
TestFlight automatically collects crash logs and usage information and shares them with Apple and Smit Joshi. This includes app versions, installs, sessions, and device and operating system details. You cannot opt out while testing through TestFlight.
Feedback you submit, including comments and screenshots, is also shared with Apple and Smit Joshi and may include your name and email. Joining only through a public link does not display your name or email to the developer as part of your invitation. Review screenshots before sending them; do not include passwords, access codes, secret keys, or a live database.
Smit Joshi uses these reports to investigate problems and improve VoltVault, and keeps no separate copies outside App Store Connect. Apple retains beta feedback for one year and may retain crash and usage data until bugs are resolved. See Apple’s TestFlight privacy notice.
5. The server operator’s responsibilities
The person or organization running a server decides who may use it, what information is entered, how long records and backups are kept, whether logs are collected, and whether access extends beyond a household or team. Send questions about a particular installation to its operator.
6. Retention and deletion
The server operator controls retention. Some records are archived or kept as a permanent history so stock quantities can be checked. Operators can remove databases, uploaded files, backups, and logs from systems they control, subject to their legal obligations. Removing the iOS app does not delete data on your server.

7. Children
VoltVault is a workshop management tool and is not directed to children. Participation in TestFlight is subject to Apple’s eligibility requirements.
8. Security
No system is perfectly secure. Require authentication, use unique passwords and keys, keep the server on a trusted private network, and avoid port forwarding. Use HTTPS where appropriate, keep the host and Docker updated, and keep tested backups on another machine.
9. Changes and contact
